Another Guardian project!!

Yet another Guardian project was assigned to me and yet again I always seem to enjoy and do well with editorial work even though it is not my first choice.

I fell in love with this project it was personal but not too personal, I had to write a short column based on the guardians weekly section "What I'm really thinking". I wasn't keen at the start because the examples given to me were on quite depressing subjects from the point of view of a woman who couldn't have children. I went and looked at the more light hearted examples and I was more than inspired and decided to write about the time I spent waitressing in a care home and a friendship I had built up with one of the patients.

I really did enjoy this and I hope you guys do too as it is a happy part of my life that had a lot of laughs as well as tears but definitely made a difference to the person I am now.

Lady Luck

Lady Luck was a project I completed in December assigned to me as part of my Visual Communication module.

It is part of a double page spread and I had to illustrate luck without being too obvious.  I chose after much deliberation and procrastination nose art on war planes. Nose art can be anything whether it is Donald Duck or a Lady dressed in next to nothing, it is something that is personal to the pilot and can be seen as a good luck charm.

I found the topic extremely interesting and being interested in Pin Up art work this was the project for me.

Soooo… I've been a little quiet recently.

Apologies for the silence for a start hehe. Since going to University in Hatfiled I have been suuuuuuuuuuuper busy and I must say I've really enjoyed myself even though it's been hectic.

I've been working on a few things and I have managed to put together an Artbook of experimentation and use of different materials which was epically fun but difficult at the same time. I hope to add some more work up in the next few days so what this space!

Big plans!

Hey everyone. The exhibition is nearly finished and it's been great fun. The private view was amazing and I have really enjoyed the end of an era at west herts college! Finally leaving to move forward.

Thank you to everyone who has been following an supported me!

Anorak Brief assigned at University.

I was asked to do a double page spread for one of my assignments based on the children's magazine Anorak. I chose the title of "What weird animals haven't been discovered...yet!" I wanted to mix in collage as I relate that mostly to children's books. I wanted to keep the animals clean though and make the background a little bit more rough with the collage effect.

I am quite pleased with my final outcome really, it would have been a bit over the top if the animals were collaged as well as the back ground.

*update*
After going through all my old USB sticks I found the individual components that I had created to come up with the final piece. I thought I would add them as it's not only nice to see the clean finished version but my journey towards this in a raw state. I enjoy making textured back grounds and I feel my time management wasn't great on this project but I did make time for experimentation.

I think just by looking at the individual pieces you can see the texture better and I think by using photoshop to put the spread together which was inevitable I lost the life and energy in the collage. I hope you enjoy. (excuse my scribbles hehe)

If you made it this far a cup of tea is in order. Thank you :)

Wood letter press experiment!

I spent half a day in the print room working with a graphic designer who is passionate about type, I had an amazing day and learnt so much by just talking and asking questions. I produced this print as an experiment but I may use my name cut out for other things as I really like the font I picked it to create this.

It is wonky but I kind of like it that way as it looks more hand made instead of printed from a computer. :) really good day.

I'm back!

Hey everyone. Haven't posted for a while been epically busy at university with hand ins but I do have a chunk of work to put up and some experimental pieces! watch this space for more work to be put up my final piece is due soon as well!
